Where to eat late in London
Ten London places that are still feeding and watering you when the rest of the city has stacked the chairs, picked by locals who are genuinely out at that hour. Some are dive bars, some are wine bars, one is a brewery by a canal you shouldn't fall into. After the gig, after the shift, after the second bottle, this is the list.
The place to roll into when dinner's done and you fancy a proper cocktail list instead of another pint. Eat first, drink second, finish with the Guinness cake. Non-negotiable, even at that hour.
Where the Nuff night usually ends up. Jukebox, no frills, teenage bangers at an hour you'd rather not admit to. Maggie runs it, so behave yourself and get a round in.
A late one that still feels grown up. Stick to the signature cocktails, put your name on the pool table early, and let Dalston get on with itself outside.
Start the night here for the £3.99 pints from 17:00-19:00 Thursdays and Fridays, then get a plate of From The Ashes smokehouse down you before anyone suggests dancing.
Tiny, so the nightcap plan only works if you get in before the rush. One perfect drink at the marble bar beats three mediocre ones anywhere else on the street.
This is where the second bottle happens. Old world European wine on Chatsworth Road, plus a sharing board to stop the evening running away from you. Get amongst it.
Vinyl DJs and wine by the glass make this a very easy place to lose two hours in. Order the goat cheese and honey toast late, it's the best late-night snack in London Fields.
One-in-one-out on the door most nights, so this is a get-there-early, stay-till-close job. The cocktails are worth the queue and worth the rosy cheeks that follow.
The Hackney Wick pit stop. A stone-baked pizza by the canal is the only thing standing between you and a very wet walk home. Check what's on, there's usually a DJ or the football.
The dance floor one. Frozen cocktails, the famous ginger mojito, checkerboard floor, and no chance of a quiet chat after midnight. Go when you've stopped pretending you'll get an early night.
Every place on Nuff has been visited and chosen by us. Real people who love London's food, pubs and culture. Tried, tested and argued over. No ads, no algorithms, nothing pay-to-play.
