Tayyabs is the real deal. Founded in 1972, the family-run, always-full, Whitechapel-based restaurant serves impeccable Punjabi cuisine to rave reviews and is famous for its lamb chops. The large restaurant is great for group bookings and better still, it’s bring your own booze, which explains the often (always!) raucous atmosphere. But that’s all part of the Tayyabs experience. Top tip: don’t panic when the waiter doesn’t pull out a pen and pad for the 12-person order. It’s really quite remarkable. They’ve never once fucked it up.
