Born from the legends behind OG kebab shop Mangal I, located just up the road on Arcola St, Mangal II is a refined exploration of open-fire Turkish cooking. Up until a few years ago it was a “standard” (though very good) ocakbasi restaurant. Taking the decision to massively up the offering of their father’s restaurant, sons Sertaç and Ferhat Dirik created a new, contemporary space for their customers, executed to rave reviews. Think: wood-fired meats paired with delicate fermented sides, raw salads and smokey or spicy broths, and so much more. You really have to experience it for yourself. Mangal II, we love you. Top tip: they’ve installed a wine bar downstairs, a cosy drinking cave that works a bloody treat.
